BLOODSTAIN PATTERN ANALYSIS - WORKSHOP I

This workshop provides fundamental knowledge in the field of bloodstain pattern interpretation. The course is designed to teach the students the basic skills needed to examine, identify, and document bloodstain evidence. After completing the course, students should recognize bloodstain patterns found at a crime scene and the type of force that created the patterns. They will also be able to determine if the blood patterns found are consistent with the investigation. This course should benefit the street officer, crime scene personnel and investigators.

This is a hands on class. Wear OLD clothing. Bring a scientific calculator. Camera equipment is recommended to document the lab and mock crime scene portion of the class.

BLOODSTAIN PATTERN ANALYSIS - WORKSHOP II

This advanced workshop builds on the basic skills learned in the basic workshop. This class is designed to refresh and then build on the skills learned in the first workshop. New documentation methods will be taught. A large portion of the class is hands on training in the form of mock crime scenes and analyzing bloodstains in old crime scene photographs. Students will also begin to be exposed to method of writing the analysis, explaining their work to prosecutors and testifying in bloodspatter cases.

This is a forty hour workshop. A forty hour basic class from a recognized instructor is required before taking this class.

Students are urged to wear OLD clothing. Students are required to bring:

  1. Camera Equipment (NOT REQUIRED)
  2. Scientific Calculator
  3. Kit for Processing a Bloody Crime Scene
  4. Photos from an Old Case Involving Bloodstain Interpretation (This can be from any bloody scene)

BLOODSTAIN PATTERN ANALYSIS - WORKSHOP III

This is an invitation only workshop. This advanced course is designed to be a mixture of crime lab personnel, crime scene investigators, criminal investigators and personnel from the prosecutors office. This is a hands on course that includes practical exercises in different crime scene scenarios.

Students must have previously taken the bloodstain Workshop I and Workshop II classes or have prior approval from the instructor. Class size is limited. Interested officers should contact Bob Henderson.

They will also need a scientific calculator and kit used to process a bloody crime scene. Bring your cameras, video equipment, and old clothes.

This is a 50 HOUR class.  IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THE STUDENTS TAKE CRIME SCENE RECONSTRUCTION FROM TOM BEVEL FROM NORMAN, OKLAHOMA.

BLOODSTAIN PATTERN ANALYSIS - WORKSHOP IV

This is an introductory course geared toward investigators, attorneys, and supervisors. The course is designed to enable the officers to look at the blood patterns and make a preliminary assessment of the scene. The officer will be able to recognize basic blood patterns and the force needed to create them.

This is a twenty-four hour, hands on class. Students are encouraged to wear OLD clothing.
